Opening in 1992, HM Care Home is the result of a 20 year friendship between John Hofmann and his private duty nurse, Judy Mraz. Mr. Hofmann suffered from multiple sclerosis and was told his life expectancy was only a few short years. John credited the care he received from Judy for the decades of life he enjoyed following his diagnosis. Upon his death, he asked Judy to find a way to care for others the way she’d cared for him and he donated his home to her for this purpose. It took Judy many years to overcome the obstacles standing between her and the opening of Hofmann Mraz Care Home. Of course, she never gave up and both she and her husband Donnie spent the rest of their lives caring for the precious residents who lovingly called them “mom & dad.”Upon their passing, Judy’s sister Martha Brown stepped in to continue the home’s mission. In 2009, Judy’s daughter Sharee Owens began her journey as the next generation of family to continue Judy’s life’s work and legacy.
